Looking forward, and back

I’m following in Elliot’s footsteps I’m taking a look over 2008 and on in to 2009. For some reason this post has taken over month to write.

It seems one of those things I never find time to do is my own site, some regular visitors may have noticed that there have been many, many styles changes towards the end of 2008 and with 2009 well under way there are more to come.

So to get things started, First off is finishing of the design, layout and extra templates.

It’s been on the to-do list for months now and that is to finally sit down and get the design of Hunter’s Home sorted out so I don’t keep changing it. Of course there will be “tweaks” but I want to be able to have something set up for at least a year before I change it.  Over 2008 I changed it around so much I went between different designs each week.

Moving over to AlexOlder.com, when moving over to mediatemple hosting I brought alexolder.com for $5 when I took out my hosting package. Now the time has come to move Hunter’s Home over to AlexOlder.com, don’t worry though I’m keeping the domain for email purposes and already have the 301 redirect ready.

WDC2009 Launch, I’ve already got the date set, the speakers arranged so I just need to sort out the new 2009 site and the panels. It’s that easy really its just finding time for it all. 2009 brings along more than just organisation to the table. Sorting out speakers is getting easier as being able to drop some big names is getting easier and 2009 has 4 sorted out for everyone coming. The challange this year is making it a professional event which is harder than it looks, so many things to sort out and arrange that aren’t people. First off it to make the site stand out and I’m hoping to put that together at somepoint this month!

WDC Mini-Events, aside from the WDC main event I’m planning on some smaller functions to get the local developer community together. The events will be small 1 day events details will be confirmed after the WDC 2009 launch.

Relaunch UnrealFans.com is a big goal for the next month, the guys behind the Unreal franchise are working on a huge expansion and patch for Unreal Tournament 3 which has the community buzzing and will hopefully draw in new players and bring back some old players. UnrealFans wasn’t huge a few years ago but it kept people interested in something aside from the game, the community around it.

GameFansNetwork is another project I’ve been trying to launch. It’s my own attempt at a gaming news network much like IGN/Gamespy; but done right. After the network I ran died I’ve been needing a fix to sort my own out and now hopefully I can get it done.

Use my camera is a good goal, one I’m already working on. Last year I brought a 350D from Liam and have never really got out to use it. I’m trying to change this and so far I got out in Bristol a week ago and got some nice shots.
