Domains

If you follow me on Twitter you’ll be aware that I’ve recently moved my hosting over to (mt). I made the move after hearing from so many people how great the service was and for $20 a month it was cheap as chips and being a student the less it costs the better.

With it being so cheap I thought I’d even celebrate the occasion by buying myself a domain name. Thankfully AlexOlder.com was available so for $5 I got hold of it and set all my (mt) stuff up under it. This brought the number of domains I own up to a grand total of 9. It’s ok though, 1 of them is for a friend’s site I designed and offered to host and another is for the girlfriend’s University society.

But what exactly are do I do with the other 7? Well Hunter’s Home is here, AlexOlder.com will be my “professional front”, WebDevConf.co.uk is there for a pretty obvious reason, I’ve also recently starting GameFans Network after a site I used to work on went under earlier in the year, UnrealFans was my first ever domain name I took instead of getting paid when I worked in a small computer shop and over the years has had plenty of use, Wiki Theories is yet another “project” I’m working on and you can probably guess what it’s there for, Meaning42 was free when I brought Wiki Theories and was going to be a LAN event site but its use may still change.

Out of all those 2 of them have active sites running, 2 of them are hopefully going live properly before Christmas, but the others? They will be left with holding pages, basic installs of WordPress/MediaWiki/etc until I get around them which may be never.

Does anyone need 7 domains for personal projects?
