Freelance, year 100?

It seems like I have been 'freelancing' for a while now. Bluefly Digital is coming up to having been established for 6 years and while I could say that I have been freelancing since day 1, that wouldn't be exactly what I have been doing.

Perma-lancing

Andy Budd put this term forward when I ran in to him last year in Bristol when he was speaking at XXXX.

Basically it means working as a freelancer but pretty much full time for a company, maybe at a discounted rate than what you may normally charge per day.

This is exactly what I had been doing up until Christmas last year and it was great. However after getting Married in November and now Sam and I are expecting our first child, it was time for a proper change.

Freelancing take 2

In the run up to Christmas I was lucky enough to speak to a long term client of mine an arrange a work schedule over 12 months with gave me the time to go out and get my own work, be it for agencies or direct with clients.

Since January my working life has been split this way and it has been one hell of a ride, and it's only March!

It hasn't been smooth sailing, but had it been I'd be questioning it every single day and I'm thankful that every agency I have worked with to this point has taken the chance to do so!

Year 6?

I don't know what's going to happen in the next 12 months, Obviously WDC will be taking place in October and BabyO (working title) is due at the end of August.

If I'm lucky I may even finish off this blog design!

I've had the chance to work on some great projects already and hope for more! If you've got one, please let me know (alex[a]wearebluefly.com)
