Back on Customer Service

Some of you may remember my lengthy post about “Why Customer Service Shouldn’t be Overlooked” and for some strange reason I find myself back on the topic.

With WDC coming up I thought it high time to get some more professional business cards to throw about at the event. One reason was to get the WDC branding out there (I love those 3 cubes) and another was to promote the WDC site and my own blog as well as ways of contacting me.

Last time I ordered any type of business card it was the MOO Minicards these were great to hand out at informal events like OpenCoffee.

The reason I’m back on topic is this time my order from MOO had a problem. With most online sites where you “create” or “design” an item or product you expect to get exactly what you saw on screen. On MOO you can the messages saying you design may get cut or be blurry which is fine but you create an image which will fit on the card.

Thinking of becoming a Web designer after University?

I know this is on my mind for when I finally leave the life of education and I’m sure its on the mind of many others too.

What does it take to be employed as a Web designer? After coming across the Boagworld.com podcast. I was reading through some recent news and other bits on the site and came across Andy Rutledge’s blog post about the “Employable Web Designer”. So if you’re wondering about what to do as as well as waiting for this years WDC to see what’s going on in the world of the web have a read and take some notes.

Almost daily I receive one or more emails from design students and aspiring Web designers unsure about their current education. They’re concerned that what they’re learning will not sufficiently prepare them for the real world. They fear they’re being taught outdated practices, or simply that their curriculum focuses on the wrong things.

WDC Tomorrow

It’s been in the works for months now and finally (hopefully!) all the hard work will pay off as the Web Developers Conference takes place at the Watershed, Bristol.

If you haven’t already head over to the offical site and make sure you know whats going on. It starts at 10am and is for invitees and Web Design Students only.

Also look out for event information for 2008 in the near future!

21 Days Later…

and it’ll be the WDC almost everything is in place. My thanks goes to Dan Dixon from UWE who has helped me organise everything. The site needs the last couple of updates applying to it but the promotion of the event has already started through various blogs. Hopefully we can keep this up to the event and carry it on for 2008!
